Wooden Viewing Platform at Englemere Pond, Bracknell Forest

Englemere Pond, between Bracknell and Ascot, is a SSSI and LNR. The land was once part of the royal hunting forests that surrounded Windsor Castle. Englemere Pond is a public open space currently undergoing enhancement works as a Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) in order to create an enjoyable natural environment for recreation, away from the Thames Basin Heath Special Protection Area (SPA). Bracknell Forest Borough Council drew up a design for a new raised viewing platform for Englemere Pond.

Environments for People were asked to quote for the works and in doing so submitted three options - all wood; recycled plastic ground legs with a timber structure; and all materials made from recycled plastic. Environments for People were awarded the contract to supply and construct option 2 - recycled plastic ground legs with a timber structure. This option was accepted as the site is wet and prone to flooding.
